Phacelia
Direct sow around your last frost date and every couple of weeks until mid-June for a continuous supply of flowers. Sow seeds 5mm deep in well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Thin plants to 10-20cm apart. Plants may die back in the heat of the summer and perform best in the cool weather of spring and fall. May self-seed. Remove spent flowers if self-seeding is undesirable. Will winter kill at –8 degrees Celsius and form a weed smothering winter mulch which is great for planting transplants into the following spring.
