Giant Musselburgh

This popular Scottish heirloom dates to 1834. It is a late maturing, cold tolerant leek that will feed you in the fall, winter over, then provide good eating in early spring. Large plants have very thick, tender white stocks that reach 7 cm. in diameter. The mild flavour is essential in stock and of course, leek and potato soup. Grow in a cold frame and you can harvest all winter long.
