Meeting Place Organic Farm Snow Pea

Meeting Place Organic Farm

SOLD OUT 60 days. Our friends at Meeting Place Organic Farm in Lucknow have been growing and saving the seed of this white-flowered snow pea since the mid 1990s. It produces heavy yields of small podded, crunchy snow peas on tall vines. Give it support and pick regularly to extend the harvest. This seed is the result of on-farm selection under organic growing conditions and we are fortunate to be able to offer it.

Multi-Purpose Type

Pea Blue Pod Capucijners

Blue Pod Capucijners

55 days. Beautiful bluish purple pods enclosed olive green peas. This pea dates from the 1500’s and was developed by the Capuchin Monks, hence the name Capucijners. Pick the flat pods early and frequently and use like a snow pea or allow the pods to swell and harvest the peas within. Some people eat the fresh peas but we tend to dry them for winter use. The traditional Dutch way to eat them is to soak them overnight then pan fry them with onions and bacon. Tall vines reach 2-3 m. and nee something sturdy to climb on. So beautiful, you may want to grow them even if you are not a fan of peas.
